My Nikau Tree

Nikau Trees
Most of the palm trees grow in the hottest and tropical countries but not the Nikau tree. It is also an very expensive tree. If you want to get the bulb you have to destroy the whole tree. The bulb is the main part of the tree.

The Maori people used Nikau trees for weaving the leaves to make bags (known as kete) and baskets.

The Nikau tree is special to N.Z because it is a native tree to us and it is special to the maori people.

  1. Hi Losa,
I like how you described where the Nikau grows and how you told me what I would have to do if I wanted the bulb. Maybe next time just put a little bit more facts and also say why it was special to the Maori.
