Mothers Day Card

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I felt you kiss me goodnight
And I felt special and loved.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard you say I love you when you dropped me off to school and I
felt like I have a very important person in my life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you fold my laundry when I was supposed to
And I knew that when I see a need I should always respond.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you cook shepherd's pie
I wanted to learn how to cook like you.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard that you were going to buy me a new phone
I wanted to repay the favour.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard you say that you’ll love me till I die,
And I felt like that I will always have someone that will love me forever.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I felt your presence in my room to check up on me
And it made me feel safe with you around.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you sneak money into bag
And I learnt that small things always matter.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you stand in the rain watching me play netball,
And I learnt that it is good to support others.

Malala Yousafzai Narative

“Tawaqquf” A taliban man shouted at the bus driver. The bus stopped. I could feel the wind rush up my spine. My friend and I were talking about why the Taliban stopped us while we were on the way home from school. Everyone was so quiet, that you could hear a pin drop. I looked around and  could see men surrounding the bus. Everyone was so scared that no one said a single word. Looking at my friends eyes I knew that everyone was nervous and worried about what would happen next. The taliban man walked towards the door and knocked. The driver opened the door. As he opened the bus doors you could see he was as scared as the rest of us, .
The taliban man shouted “WHO HERE IS MALALA?”
No one answered, we were all too afraid. He looked around and gave a nasty ugly stare at every girl and tried to make them reveal the truth.

We looked at each other in silence and we knew we had to stick together and not reveal anything. He kept looking at me mostly, like he knew that I was Malala. I wanted to move but I couldn’t! I felt like a girl who is about to jump off a cliff. He walked up and down the bus. You could hear the dirt on his boots on the floor of the bus as he walked up and down. I looked at him and he gave me the evils like I was giving him attitude but I wasn’t,.
He came to my seat and whispered in my ear, “Who here is Malala?”
I was too scared to say that I was Malala so I gave no answer, but he got up and screamed “WHO HERE IS MALALA!!?”
We all jumped out of our seats with fear.
I was so sick and tired of being afraid, I got up and said “ I AM MALALA” with great courage in my voice.
He looked at me and said “Well aren’t you brave” and pulled out his  gun and chuckled. He pointed the gun at me and smiled…. BANG!!! I fell to the floor in great pain I could hear cars driving away, people crying.

I could feel people surrounding me with their legs shaking with fear and hear people screaming to the driver “drive to the hospital”. I could hear the other girls getting ready to call the ambulance. I didn’t say anything but cry in pain. I feel a piece of cloth on my face being wrapped around my head to stop me from bleeding. I hear the sirens getting closer and closer.

Oscar Romero

Oscar Romero was born on August 15th 1917 in Ciudad Barrios, El Salvador. He was man who fought for the poor and wanted them to have what we people have now. He was a very inspiring man who spoke against poverty, social injustice, torture and assassinations.

Oscar Romero helped others by giving them hope and saying that people should give them a fair chance. He had made the rich and the powerful people angry because when he talked on the radio he was speaking up for the poor. So the government blew up the radio station.

On the afternoon of March 24th 1980 Bishop Oscar Romero was blessing the Eucharist and Wine and BANG. He was on the floor and the nuns ran up to him and put the cross and him and had blessed him. Others stayed in their seats and cried and prayed. Oscar Romero became a martyr on the 3rd of February 2015.

The Resurrection

Lord, today I experienced the resurrection many times

When I got out of my bed I looked at my school clothes and didn’t want to get changed because I was warm in my bed,
BUT when I came to school I had a wonderful day and learned a lot.

When my brother left to Taranaki for his rugby I was sad
But I knew that he had to follow his dreams and begin his career.

Lord, the resurrection means more than coming back from the dead:
It is having faith in each tomorrow

Amen

Camp activities:

I loved the camp activities because they were fun and it was funny plus me and my group bonded and learned new thing about each other. My favourite thing about the activities is that it brought my group closer and we got to know each other better. My favourite activity was Archery because I have never experienced how to use a bow and hot to shoot a arrow.

Movie Night and The Group Sing-off:

We had movie night and the group sing-off on the second night at camp after dinner. We watched “Tomorrowland” which was pretty cool and fascinating, then we had the sing-off when all the groups had 20 minutes to pick a song, dance or play to perform in front of all of the groups with the light off or on. Group 2 (my group) sang and danced to “Price Tag” by Jessie J with our boys and our group leader beatboxing. The winners were Group 1 with their song “All About That Bass”.

The Food:

The food at camp was amazing and delicious. The food was the best camp food i’ve ever tasted because it was all made from two girls named Isabelle and Amanda that was for lunch and dinner. For breakfast and afternoon tea our teachers served us breakfast and we ate biscuits for afternoon tea with water.

Downtime:

Their was two downtimes which were the after lunch time when you can play or shower, and the second downtime was after dinner when you would shower then go to your cabin/bunk and slip into your sleeping bag and fall asleep.

Cabins/Bunks:

All the year sevens and eights slept at the top with 6 year 6’s sleeping at the end which I was one of them. When you walk to the top there is a line where you can just walk and go to your bunk, the bottom cabin is separated so the boys on one side and the other year 5 and 6 girls are on the other side. The parents would sleep at the bottom with the kids. Only two women sleep at the top which was Katie and Engi. The six year 6’s were Me,Maranita,Faith,Tino,Maria and Caitlyn and we were all put together at the end on one side together like we were sisters.

Extreme Edge:

This was one of my top five favourites because you could climb and come down like you're a spy and it felt like I was flying while walking on a wall. Me and my best friend maranita keep singing spy songs while we sit and come down like we were spies. I did everything and completed it, also there was a lot of themes like jack and the beanstalk, the alphabet and many more that is fun and super.

Walking to The Waterfall and The Piha Beach:

The walk was long but it was fun plus we got to work off the food we ate at dinner time. We walked altogether and the view was amazing. At the beach we were allowed to draw on the sand and we ate ice cream there, and at the waterfall we were allowed to touch the water which was really really cold and take photos with everyone plus we got to sit and watch the beautiful view.

Bus Trip To Camp and Back To School:

The bus trip to camp was fun because I could talk to my best friend, plus the views were amazing because I could see the Lion Rock and the black sand at Piha beach. When we got to camp we got to get our bags and get our sleep sleeping arrangements and after that we got to play anything we want because we were told that there was sports gear at the lounge and everyone went crazy. On the way back was more fun because we had another sing-off it was the back seaters against the front seaters, and we got to see the great view again and say goodbye to piha which was pretty hurting it even made me cry a bit and my best friend. When we got to school it was sunny and hot.

Syrian Exodus

Syrians Exodus

Did you know a father loses a family everyday? Have you thought of living in Syria? How do they feel? Well I don't, but I have watched the news and wondered what is the person who has taken over Syria doing? Is he even thinking or is he just doing it for fun?

What is happening in Syria?
If you watch the news then you have heard about families that have been taken as hostages and to bow down and respect a man who has taken over the country. Once there was a little toddler boy who was washed up and faced down found on the beach, because his father had paid a lot of money to take his family away from this invasion in a inflated boat. This is what happens when a person comes and invades a country or takes over. The Syrians are now fighting for their rights and going on boats to go to Germany or Greece and trying to get to safety. Sometimes they jump off the boat and get wrapped in a tyre waiting for other sailors to find them. The Syrians experience this everyday, the people that are trapped in Syria are now slaves and some of the fathers have to help the smugglers to find the people that are hiding.

What can we do to help?
To help and provide food for the children we can support education in their camps, help them to have a healthy life and many more ways. You can also donate money to the children that are in Syria and also the children who are suffering from many things and issues.

What is the cause of Civil War?
I think that it was Syria’s president's fault because he started the civil war. Also because he misjudge the people. I also believe that it was not just his fault but it was also the people’s fault. Why do I think that it is the people’s fault? I think that it was the people’s fault because they continued the civil war and was very aggressive. The policemen there was also part of it because they were not letting the people escape from their country and also the policemen were torturing the people in many bad ways such as punching, kicking and many other things.

Nike Unveils Marty McFly's Iconic Power-Lace Shoes On 'Back To The Future' Day Article

Nike Unveils Marty McFly's Iconic Power-Lace Shoes On 'Back To The Future' Day Article!

It was “Back to the Future Day” on the 21st of October on Wednesday and in the movie “Back to the Future ii” Marty Mcfly and Doctor Brown time travel 30 years to the future to a fake city called “Hill Valley” in California to rescue Marty’s soon to be born children. The date that they arrive to the future is October 21st in the year 2015 and this date has made the fans go crazy waiting for this year and this date. To celebrate this very special day, Nike released a fully electronic shoe called the Nike mag sneakers which are the shoes that Marty Mcfly wore in the movie but the sneakers that Mcfly wore in the movie was just props. So the new shoes is the best, and the user that is using the shoes has to do only one thing which is to put on the shoes and the laces will do its own thing. There is also no wire that will be disturbing you while you walk and show off these amazing shoes, the heel lights up and the Nike logo too just like in the movie, plus the electronics are all built in the shoe,

This is not only the first time Tinker Hatfield, the Nike designer who created the normal fake design, he has tried though a lot but the one he did in 2011 it didn’t work out as planned because the one he did in 2011 the laces did not even move or tie it self to make the user feel comfortable in the shoes. Anyway, this time the company say it has better technology than can feel the foot and tie the laces tight so that the user's foot can feel comfy. The shoes come with a manual to show the user to make the laces tighter or to make it loose if they want to.

Though the shoes were inspired by Mcfly it was only fair that he would get the first pair of Nike Mags sneakers to be sent to Michael J.Fox the man who played Marty Mcfly, the shoes were sent to him on the 21st of October.  The great news is that they will be thinking of selling them in 2016. The bad news is that the shoes will be limited edition and only in via auction.
Someday they will be known as normal sneakers and it will be cheap for all of us to but  which is great because we might be able to afford it!

My Speech About My Brother

My Speech

Today I will be talking about  a certain college boy who is the best rugby player that I have seen in my life and who means everything to me .He is my older brother and his  name is Sione. So please turn off your cell phones or anything that goes “DING DONG” or anything that makes a sound so it won’t disturb you while I talk all about my big brother. Sione always inspires me and stands by my side because he is loving and caring to me. He will always text my mum and say “Tell saline I miss her”, he calls me saline for short because that how my culture says my name. Sione is seventeen years old turning 18 this year, and is year 13. Sione goes to the best boarding school in the world called “Dilworth”.Sione is an amazing rugby player and is a great role model. Sione’s favourite subject in college is economics. He is 6.4 feet and has light brown eyes. He is the best in “Call Of Duty” or for short COD. He goes to the gym a lot, he also goes for a run everyday except Sunday because that is his rest day at least that's what he says but I just go with it. Sione favourite thing to do is to play rugby and to go on his Iphone 5s and to watch movies at the cinemas with me. Sione also loves to eat Mcdonalds with me. He is the best brother in the world because he is very inspiring to me and my whole family plus he is very funny like a comedian. He is thinking of being a doctor or to be a very famous rugby player. I think that he will accomplish his dreams and become famous for his amazing rugby playing. He is the one and only person that I know that showers 3 times a day yeah I know weird right but I don’t care I like him for who he is not what he does. The qualities I like about him is how he doesn’t give up, he is a well focused person and he is goal driven. He aims in life to do things better. For example in rugby he will always make a trie because that is his aim in any game. Speaking about my brother means a lot to me because he is the only sibling I have in my life. I have enjoyed talking about Sione a.k.a my big brother. I hope that you have also enjoyed my speech about him. I also hope if you do have an older brother that you will always have hope for him.

The Science Of Chocolate

 THE MAKING OF CHOCOLATE!

1. Start with cocoa beans. From west Africa, 70% of the chocolate is cocoa beans. They look like football watermelons and inside it are small beans. The small beans  are extracted and are out in the sun to develop more flavour. Then are shipped around the world to make chocolate.

2. When they are at their destination they are cleaned, blended and dried. They make sure all the shells are broken and leave behind  the nibs to make the chocolate. The nibs are the main part of the chocolate.

3. The nibs are ground into cocoa mass. Then the mass is processed into cocoa powder and cocoa butter. Milk chocolate  and dark chocolate are made with all the ingredients. White chocolate does not include cocoa powder or cocoa mass only cocoa butter.

4. Sugar, milk and lecithin. All the ingredients are blended  and put through a series of rollers, and blended to a specific particle size. Conching is the final preparation step. The ingredients are carefully monitored in a gigantic tank for final flavoured tests. The then form it into bars, blocks and more.

5. The chocolate is heated through a process tempering machine, the tempering machine is to cool the chocolate and to make sure it is smooth. Once it is tempered it can be made into solid forms. Then they are ready to be shipped to the world. The possibilities with the chocolate is unstoppable.
